I turned 30 today!!!
here are 30 things I wish I knew at 22

Here are 30 things I know at 30, that I wish I knew at 22:
What’s right for you will either light you up or bring you peace.
Radical accountability will solve 99% of your problems. Everything in life is a mirror.
If you live your life for someone else’s approval, overtime you will habitually self-abandon, which will make it very difficult to trust yourself. You have one life. Live for you.
How you make people feel is more important than what you achieve. Over time, people will forget the things you say and do, but they will never forget how you made them feel.
People come and go in life but family is forever. Your time with your parents and siblings dramatically decreases after you turn 18. Savor every moment and prioritize your family.
Anything you have to cling to in order to keep was never yours in the first place. Let it go.
Health is the most important thing in your life and your body is the vessel through which you get to experience the world. Take care of your body.
Surrounding yourself with true friends who see, love and admire you for who you are will completely change your life.
Hormones impact every aspect of who you are, including your personality. Be very intentional about consuming anything that directly alters your hormone balance.
The toughest questions are the most important ones. Take time to consider the why: Why are we here? What were you specifically put on earth to do? What do you hope people say about you when you’re not in the room? What are your core values?
Carbs are not the enemy. Enjoy all food groups!!!
A lot of what happens in life is outside of your control. Surrender is not about indifference—it’s about pouring your energy into the things you can control, and giving the rest to God.
Everybody has a story, and most people want the opportunity to tell theirs. Approach everyone with curiosity and an open heart, and you will discover beautiful and unexpected connections wherever you go.
Authenticity is magnetism. Figure out who you are and what you stand for and work on being more of that, more consistently (even when it’s hard).
You teach people how to treat you based on the behaviors that you tolerate. Hold strong boundaries and high standards.
Your gut always knows, often long before your mind/logic can catch up. Learn how to listen.
What is meant for you can’t miss you, so there is really no reason to resist, force, or mourn outcomes.
Eating breakfast lowers cortisol levels and supports estrogen and thyroid function. Don’t skip breakfast.
No matter how down you feel in any given moment, all emotion is transient, life is fluid, and things can and will get better. The highest peaks tend to come after the lowest valleys.
Energy is contagious. Surround yourself with people that make you feel like the sparkliest, most magnetic version of you.
How much and how well you sleep determines your energy levels, your mood, and over time, your personality. Most people are chronically sleep deprived. Get more sleep.
Most things really can be cured by saltwater (sweat, tears, or the sea).
Tell people you’re grateful for them, whenever the thought pops up. Give people compliments.
Exercising out of hatred for your body and exercising out of love for your body will yield dramatically different results. Love and honor your body for everything it does for you, and the rest will follow.
It’s important to have some things in your life that you do purely for the joy of it.
You will only ever feel about 80% ready to make any big change in your life—the other 20% will always feel like a leap of faith. Learning how to take that leap is the key to making bold choices, and the cost of entry to a big life.
Self-discipline is the highest form of self-love.
When in doubt, ask God for clarity. You are never alone.
Change is hard, but staying somewhere you don’t belong will eventually destroy you.
You have the power to reinvent yourself at any given moment.
To everyone who’s been a part of my first 30 laps around the sun, THANK YOU 🤍
That’s all for now. Thanks for being here.
xx Brooke
