How to set goals & actually achieve them
#4: action-planning + full moon/mid-year journal prompts
Today is a full moon and we’re almost exactly halfway through 2024. And I hit a milestone this week—I recorded my first podcast episode!
Exactly a month ago, I made the decision to build my podcast in public, and I’ve been sharing daily behind-the-scenes content of everything I’ve been doing. It hasn’t all gone to plan—I ended up having to push the launch day back by 19 days and I’m still working on securing my last few guests for season 1. Despite that, I’m proud of how I’ve shown up daily. Building in public is really freaking scary.
This week several friends reached out asking some variation of the question: how did you manage to stay on track? And I've been reflecting on this. A lot of us think the key to achieving the goals we set is about working harder. That’s not true, though. Lots of people I know grind and still struggle to get their ideas off the ground.
The truth is a lot simpler. There are really just 3 essential ingredients:
💡 3 ingredients to actually achieve your goals
1. A Truly Aligned Goal
Your soul knows when something isn’t right for you. This inner resistance often manifests as a lack of enthusiasm. It’s the source of procrastination and the driving force behind projects that end up just sort of…fizzling out. We’ve all been there. If you’re not waking up excited to work on the thing, find another thing.
Finding the right thing requires a crystal-clear understanding of your own values and life goals. But that’s a segment in and of itself. (Let me know in a reply to this email if that would be helpful to cover in a future edition.)
2. A Clear Plan for How You'll Get There
Confusion is the silent killer of many goals. Often, it’s not laziness or incompetence that derails us, but a lack of clarity. When you don’t know what steps to take, it’s easy to lose momentum.

💡 Here’s a tip: leverage ChatGPT to help you create a detailed plan to achieve your goal.
How to Use ChatGPT for Goal Planning:
Start by explaining your project: Give Chat GPT a quick overview of what you're working on and ask it what information it needs to help you create the best possible plan.
Answer its questions thoughtfully: The process of answering the questions it comes back with will help you sharpen your ideas and gain clarity. And help it create a more detailed and tailored plan for you.
Get your plan: ChatGPT will generate a plan for you. Work with it to break down this plan into daily tasks and adjust it until it feels right for you.
3. A Starting Point
Most of us spend way too much time thinking about our ideas before taking action. The most important step is to JUST START. Action creates momentum, and momentum leads to progress.
Ditch perfection. Start today.

If you read one thing this week, let it be this:
Conversations with God
Format: Book Time Commitment: 240 pages | 6-7 hours Why bother: Have you guys seen those clips from the School of Hard Knocks on IG/Tiktok? This guy basically goes around asking millionaires and billionaires how they got rich. Some of the clips are genuinely insightful. I saw one recently where this guy (Peter Kell) was asked what advice he had for people wanting to change their life and he said, “Last book I read before my life took off: Conversations with God by Neal Donald Walsch” So I obviously had to order it. And I can see what he means. Interestingly this book was written the same year I was born. I do believe that writing finds you when you’re ready for it. It’s given me some insane nuggets of clarity around the connection between God and our intuition and what it means to live a Good Life. If this speaks to you, maybe this is your sign that you’re ready for this book now, too.

🌕 One more thing
We have a full moon today. I love using the full moons as an opportunity to reflect and intention-set, and this one is particularly great as it falls almost exactly halfway through 2024.
Make a ritual out of it if you feel inspired. Burn some palo santo, play some relaxing music, and sit in your favorite spot with a cup of coffee/tea or a glass of wine.
Here are a few prompts to get you started:
That’s all for now. Thank you for being here.
See you next week!
Love, Brooke
